A group who blend the 1990s grunge infused psychedelia of Smashing Pumpkins with a tough resilient edge, Leeds quartet WEIRDS bring the noise to Camp and Furnace for their Psych Fest debut. Building a profile through a string of praised singles and incendiary live gigs, the four-piece recorded several early cuts with Hookworms leader MJ.
The group’s debut LP ‘Swarmculture’, released in May, was tracked with Matt Peel (Pulled Apart By Horses, Eagulls) and pulls the together the band’s strands of high-octane guitar rampages, full-throttle distortion and a keen ear for a pop hook. Released through much admired alt. pop/punk label Alcopop Records, DIY lauded the group for recreating their pugnacious live show on disc, stating, “Weirds live up to that fierce reputation that they’ve built on their debut.”
