A band whose formidable provenance includes links to Part Chimp, Earth and Liverpool’s very own Mugstar and Bonnacons of Doom, Sex Swing make their debut Psych Fest appearance. A head-on collision of Joy Division, Suicide, Motörhead, the original soundtrack to The Thing and “Third-era Portishead tweaking on brown acid” (Clash Magazine), the group combine murderous volume, brutal rhythmic intensity and a steadfast belief in jagged concave noise, which is still pretty good to dance to.
Recipients of outstanding praise for their eponymous debut LP issued last November, the set was hailed as “a transcendent dose of ultra-heavy psych” by Clash, while The Line of Best Fit simply stated “Sex Swing are the band we need right now”.
